Sualkuchi a census town in Kamrup district of Assam, also known as “Manchester of Assam” is the expensive village of Silk weavers and Traders.Sualkuchi was established by King Dharma Pala of the Pala Dynasty who brought 26 weavers and formed a weavers village close to modern Guwahati.Sualkuchi is the home to the most rarest silk in the world which is Muga Silk and also many such rare silks are found there like Pat Silk alongwith Eri silk and Endi cloth.The skilled weavers have been delivering such great quality of clothes and gained a reputation that the region can be also called “The Silk Heaven of India”.
